After consuming Black Gyre a Gyre eater will experience a short super-human high gaining enhanced strength, speed, incredible regeneration and a burst of violent euphoria (Which is far stronger if the Gyre is awake).
When dosed up even a waifish girl like Nem is a match for any soldier, but due to its addictive and mutative nature Gyre Eaters would only seek to use this in an emergeancy - such as when a routine inspection turns into an attempt to cover up illegal use of the prohibited substance in engines of war.
(Nem’s mutations are centered around her eye because it was the first major organ she regenerated)
